Galvalume Plus™ is an aluminum-zinc coated metal that provides extra corrosion protection. The price of Galvalume Plus is a bit higher than galvanized metal. This is because of the special coating and the 50-year warranty.

Galvalume Plus™ offers the best qualities of aluminum-coated (aluminized) and zinc-coated (galvanized) metals. It has resistance to corrosion and heat, similar to aluminized materials. It also offers good galvanic protection and forming qualities like galvanized steel. So, Galvalume Plus™ will resist rust, the elements and fire while providing a sturdy and protective covering.

Galvalume Plus™ offers:

• At least twice the corrosion resistance of traditional galvanized coatings of similar thickness under the same exposure conditions
• Excellent protection at cut edges
• Exceptional heat reflectivity, resulting in lower energy load on buildings and improved interior comfort
• A distinctive appearance, with a smooth, fine spangle and silvery metallic finish
• High temperature resistance

Galvalume Plus^TM is renowned for its use for many things where durability and strength truly matter. These include car mufflers, standing seam roofing, fence tubing, greenhouses, and metal buildings.

Pioneer Steel gets Galvalume Plus^TM from the metal mill ArcelorMittal Dofasco. This product is exceptionally cost-effective, and we pass the savings on to our customers.

Pioneer Steel manufactures its metal building kits from tough 14 to 22-gauge AZ180 Galvalume Plus^TM steel. This brand of steel carries a manufacturer's warranty of 50 years. Galvalume Plus™ offers extended durability compared to conventional galvanized metal of equal coating thickness. Its special mix of aluminum and zinc protection gives it a service life that is at least twice as long in most weather conditions.

During 13 years of tests by Bethlehem Steel, Galvalume Plus™ coated metal lasted longer than galvanized metal by:

• Four times in exposure tests in a severe marine environment
• Twice as long in a less severe marine location
• Six times longer in industrial environments
• Three times longer in rural situations

Compared to galvanized metal, Galvalume Plus™ has superior resistance to intermediate and high temperatures. It can handle continuous or occasional exposure up to 315°C (600°F) without changing color. Even at higher temperatures, any discoloration or roughness does not affect its rust resistance. In fact, Galvalume Plus™ maintains its rust-resistance up to 675°C (1250°F).

It additionally offers excellent heat reflection capabilities up to 315°C (600°F). This keeps buildings cooler on hot, sunny days.

Galvalume Plus™ readily accepts most of the paints recommended for galvanized metal. The surface should be dry and free of oil, grease, dirt, dust and other contaminants. No weathering period is necessary.

We recommend consulting a paint supplier. They can help choose the best painting system and ensure the primer and topcoat work well together.
